Vacation

My vacation started Thursday and it wasn't a day too early! Getting everything together and designated at work was pretty overwhelming and stressful but taking longer wouldn't help so I had to have that deadline. I didn't sleep most of Wednesday night so having vacation on Thursday and sleeping in peacefully was wonderful! Since it was pouring on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, sleeping in was double the awesome.

A little after noon, Derek's friends came over. We went to a fun sushi lunch (I found cooked stuff of course) and ran a few errands. Back home, the boys had started to re-arrange the basement. They needed a little creative help in aligning the sitting area and it was nice to have another person to help Derek move the stuff. Finally, they headed up to the Twins game. Thankfully, the rain stopped for them but it didn't stop them from purchasing new Twins gear just in case. Meanwhile, I co-hosted a baby shower and had time with ladies. Much different evenings for us!

Friday morning, vacation day 2, started with my favorite thing, a coffee date with a girlfriend! Had such a great conversation and borrowed a few new books for summer reading. When I returned after 11 a.m., the boys were just watching World Cup replays. We lounged around for a while and then I headed to a very important appointment for my eyebrows. I could get used to this kind of scheduling.

I met the boys for lunch and more World Cup with chicken strips -mmmmm. They headed golfing and I went home to tackle a few projects. Unfortunately, I get a little carried away and when they got home around 5:00, I was on the couch trying to uncramp my poor muscles. I ended up taking a nap while Derek continued to work in the basement. A quick leftovers dinner and quiet night with the Twins game rounded out our evening because D had the early shift this morning.

This morning was an early one getting Derek's lunch ready, some quick coffee and out the door by 5:30 a.m. After he left, I was to awake to head back to bed so I whipped up some oatmeal and toast and had a delicious breakfast. This might get to be a routine. Around 6:40, I headed out for a perfect walk. It is definitely easier to move in the mornings and I need to include my walk in the morning routine. It was so quiet and serene and no one was around to see me waddle. Perfect. I got home in time to just miss the rain and wish my baby brother good luck on the ACT tests, organize our bills, and email Derek about 3 times. I feel so productive.

I have a few errands to run before a noon car appointment. This afternoon, I think I will cuddle in with my new books and enjoy the couch. :) I could clean some floors and do laundry (always too much laundry) but probably won't push it. Derek has a double shift today so I won't see him until after 10:30 tonight. Kind of a bummer but not a common occurrence and necessary today so I am commited to being patient and sympathetic (?).

Baby is finally moving this morning, all my movement had kept it pretty quiet. It's just waiting for the right time to make it's appearance. I have entered the 40th week of pregnancy and am officially due Friday. My next appointment is Tuesday so we will see where things are. I am feeling pretty calm. Just praying for the best and hoping for no embarrasing or socially awkward situations. :) A few random photos because this has been a very wordy post!

As we worked in the basement, books were pile in the living room. Made me realize that our poor kid is going to be living with some real nerds.

Blurry :( Self-photo from last Sunday = beginning of Week 39.
That's all I have folks! Have a good weekend.

Home Improvements

Not even going to comment. Just let the pictures show our latest project.
Just in case you missed it - please note the change in shingle color, lack of awnings, and missing creamsicle orange paint and trim (along with the new landscaping we have already seen)! Shingles are the product of a good hailstorm last summer and the rest just desperately needed to happen.

We are so excited to be done with the awnings. A couple of neighbors have even asked or made comments about those awnings being around for a long time and asking what we would do with them. We are not sure if they are mourning the loss or celebrating with us but we don't care because it's awesome. The neighbors have been slowing circling the block tonight. :) Thanks to Dan Wiechmann for the quick and efficient painting and general house maintenance. The basement should be done next and will be up next week sometime.

Derek and I also were just remembering that last year at this time, we were celebrating completion of my Masters degree and enjoying our last days in Jamaica. Tonight I am watching the boys work on the landscaping and just days from having our first baby. What a difference a year makes. :)

It's the end of week 38! Tomorrow I start my 39th week.

Nursery

A few detail shots from the nursery. Nothing terribly exciting together but I feel like we have some really nice pieces started. And I know the baby doesn't know the difference if I have the walls decorated or not so I am not worried about a timeline.

Time with the girls

Girl time before baby comes has been so great for keeping my morale high. I feel like that is a pathetic statement but I feel so slowed compared to normal summer activities that their support and entertainment is great.

Last weekend, we had our 10 year class reunion. What a crazy thought. It was a fun and pretty low-key evening and fun to have almost all of my girl friends from high school together. And since Joni married into the group, I got to spend time with her on her birthday and not be the only pregnant girl at the party!

After my last doctor appointment we found out that I was having some progression so Christy, Angie, and Aleta came together to go out with me last night! And what better way to spend time with your girl friends than by going to Sex and the City 2. TThe movie itself was pretty much as the critics declared. All of the elements that makes SATC fans attracted to the show were there but a couple of scenes and dialogues were a little over the top. But it was good to hang out and laugh with friends. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture with them but we were all pretty tired so maybe no picture is ok. :)

Thanks for keeping me going girls!

Derek always impatient and taking them before we are ready. I love this one!
And a nice one with lots of wall space included. I think I am at the end week 37 and Joni is at 31.
